As you have no doubt heard, Hurricane Harvey slammed into the Gulf Coast of Texas this past week, leaving historic flooding in the wake.  As one of the first major disasters of the modern social media landscape, ways of helping and supporting victims have fortunately become widely available.

Local Texas Relief Organizations

• The Mayor of Houston has set up the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, which is administered by the Greater Houston Community Foundation.
  
• The Houston Food Bank and the Food Bank of Corpus Christi are asking for donations online.

• Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recommends donating to the American Red Cross, calling it a “tremendous asset.”

Crowdfunding

• Popular crowdfunding site GlobalGiving, is aiming to raise $2 million for a relief fund.
