Facebook

Twitter

Though you only have 140 characters, Twitter is a marketer’s paradise. It has around 320 million active users. 38% of Twitter users utilize the social media platform on a daily basis, while 21% of them will log into the site on a weekly basis.

23% of all internet users utilize Twitter, with 25% of them being men and 21% of them being women. Men For the most part, Twitter remains most popular among the 18-29 demographic, with 32% of them using the social networking platform. In addition, 29% of online adults between the ages of 30-49, along with 13% of those ages 50-64 and 6% of those 65 and older.

Google+

People tend to think that Google+ isn’t popular and is a ghost town, but it actual has over 350 million active users every month! It was once seen as a combination of the aforementioned two social media channels (Facebook and Twitter); however, thanks to newer features like +1s and The Hangouts, it can be much more. 

LinkedIn

An established business channel, LinkedIn has over 400 million registered users. 22% of LinkedIn users log into the site on a daily basis and 30% of its users utilize the site weekly.

LinkedIn is the one social media site that has higher popularity among the 30-49 year-old’s (32%) instead of the 18-29 year-old’s (22%). This is because it is targeted more towards business-like minded individuals and those with college degrees (46%) as well as higher incomes, such as $75,000+ (41%). LinkedIn is also most popular among users who are employed (32%) compared to those are who unemployed (14%).

Instagram

Instagram, which is currently owned by Facebook, has over 400 million users who are active on the site. The user engagement rate on Instagram is known to be higher than both Facebook and Twitter at 4.21%. As of 2015, 59% of Instagram users are using the site on a daily basis, with 35% of the site’s users visiting multiple times each day. 17% of the users are using the site on a weekly basis.

Though women tend to use Instagram more than men, the percentages show that the race isn’t too far off. 31% of online female users and 24% of male online users utilize Instagram. It is also significantly popular amongst users between the ages of 18 and 29, 55% of whom are users.

Pinterest

Pinterest has an estimated 100 million active members and are known to spend a significant amount of money because people us it to find inspiration on what they need or should buy, which makes Pinterest a promising platform when it comes to a marketing campaign. On a daily basis, 27% of Pinterest are using it on a daily basis, while 28% of the site’s users are logging in on a weekly basis.

Overall, only 31% of online adults utilize Pinterest. Not surprisingly, Pinterest is a much more popular site for women than men, with 44% women using the site and only a mere 16% using Pinterest. Individuals under the age of 50 are the most popular users of Pinterest – a total of 73% do so between both the 18-29 and 30-49 age groups.
